Overview
This webinar aims to help participants develop their skills and learn strategies for navigating difficult conversations and negotiations towards more effective and positive outcomes. The ability to communicate effectively towards achieving desired outcomes is a valued skill that can be learned and practiced. Those who invest in improving these skills benefit greatly, as well as the teams and communities in which they participate. This session will help attendees to understand different negotiation styles, present key strategies for having respectful and productive conversations, and have participants practice utilizing a framework to aid in navigating difficult conversations towards accomplishing productive results. The webinar will be a combination of lecture and anonymous interactive methods to help provide insight into how to optimize your own personal negotiation style.

This session is intended for a broad audience, and is open to people at all career levels who are interested in understanding negotiating styles and productive, respectful communications.

Biography
Lily M. Wang is the Charles W. and Margre H. Durham Distinguished Professor of Engineering and Technology and Director of the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction in the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, as well as a former President and Vice-President of the Acoustical Society of America. Since being selected for the Big Ten Academic Alliance’s Academic Leadership Program in 2013-14, she has advanced in leadership roles, led numerous faculty and graduate student professional development sessions, and is now a certified Trainer in ‘Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue’. She deeply believes in the positive impact that team members with effective communication skills can have on organizations and communities, and is committed to sharing these best practices. Difficult conversations will still be difficult, but continued practice and self-reflection is critical towards mastering the strategies presented in this webinar and achieving desired outcomes.
