Meeting Overview -

The 51st International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films (ICMCTF 2025) will be held at the Town & Country Resort, San Diego, California, USA, from May 11-16, 2025. ICMCTF is the premier international conference in the field of thin film deposition, characterization, and advanced surface engineering, promoting a global exchange of ideas and information among scientists, technologists, and manufacturers. ICMCTF 2025 technical sessions will have an overarching theme that emphasizes materials, processes, and applications relevant for sustainable development and will include a related Topical Symposium. The Conference includes more than 90 high-profile invited speakers, in over 50 sessions, across technical symposia, plenary and keynote lectures, short courses, an awards program, and daily social networking events.

A major exhibition of equipment, materials, technical literature, and new technologies is a key part of the conference. Attendees from all over the world come to present their findings, exchange ideas, share insights, make new friends, and often establish collaborations. The Conference typically draws 700 attendees.

Registration Information and Fees -

Conference Registration includes the following for Invited, Regular, Student, and Retired Attendees. One Day attendees will only be able to participate in the events taking place on the selected day. Note that all registrants will be required to show a valid ID at the registration counter onsite. Student registrants will be required to show a valid student ID. San Diego area registrants will need to show a valid San Diego area ID (i.e., CA Driver’s License with San Diego area zip code or other proof of residence)

  • Access to More Than 50 Technical Sessions, Plenary and Exhibition Keynote Lectures, Special Interest Talks, plus Poster Sessions.
  • Admission to the Exhibition on Tuesday and Wednesday with Refreshments During Breaks and Lunches (While Supplies Last).
  • Access (with Drink Tickets) to the Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony and Reception, and Poster Session.
  • Use of the Conference Mobile App/Desktop Planner/Personal Scheduler
  • Complimentary TSF and SCT Journals' Online Proceedings When Available

Cancellation Policy 
If for any reason you cannot attend the ICMCTF 2025 Conference and/or Short Course you must contact AVS at 530-896-0477, heather@avs.org by April 11, 2025, to receive a refund, less a $100.00 processing fee.  No refunds can be given for cancellations after April 11, 2025.

Conference Registration Discount Policy-

In order to receive the discounted hotel conference registration fee you must provide an ICMCTF 2025 Housing Block confirmation number from the Town & Country when you register. Confirmation numbers will be verified by the hotel—Any confirmations found to be outside of the ICMCTF 2025 Housing Block or from a third party agent will be readjusted to the no hotel registration fee and you will be invoiced the difference.
